There are many activities and restaurants in and around Las Terrenas and Playa Bonita. Tripadvisor provides an excellent overview including other travelers’ reviews. Here below we provide a list of our favorite activities we believe our guests might be particularly interested in…

Mountainbike Excursions and Rental

If you feel like exploring the area of Las Terrenas by bike, check out MTB Vacations DR. They offer organized excursions for all levels. You can also rent bikes for a few days or the whole stay (18 USD per day). We do not recommend to go to town by bicycle as there are too

Limón Waterfall

El Limón Waterfall is only 30 minutes away in the direction of Santa Barbara de Samaná (main town of the Peninsula of Samaná) and certainly worth a trip. You probably want to join a tour.

Samaná Zipline and Playa del Valle

Samaná Zipline is located in the mountains between Samaná and El Valle in the north coast of the Dominican Republic. You do not need to be a sports pro to do it at all, a little bit of bravery might help, though. We did it many times with children age 4 and above.

Restaurants on Playa Cosón

Playa Cosón starts just beyond Punta Bonita and is a long, wonderful stretch of nearly white sand and probably the best beach close to the town of Las Terrenas. It’s also your beachwalk path to two very nice and equally different restaurants we visit regularly.

Restaurants at Playa Bonita

We recommend to consult with Tripadvisor to read the latest reviews but we are happy to provide some information. Recently – the end of 2018 that is – the restaurant at the Mosquito Boutique Hotel and the one at the Casa Grande have all changed ownership or management and are fun again to visit for a

Wave surfing & Body surfing

Playa Bonita is a good surf spot in Las Terrenas for beginners and advanced surfers. There are two surf schools just a few houses away on the beach. They rent surf and stand-up paddle boards and offer private or group classes for all levels.

Stand up Paddling – SUP

Practice your balance, strength and endurance a mere 2 minutes walk away. There are two shops which rent wave surfing and stand up paddling boards and equipment at Playa Bonita. Johannes, a German citizen, is the owner of Pirata Surf School.

Horseback Riding

Rancho Playa, www.ranchoplayalt.com, is specialized in horseback riding excursions. The ranch is 25 minutes by car from the house. You can find detailed information on their website. If you do not have a rental car, they organize the transfer for you.

Kite Surfing

Las Terrenas has many kite surfing spots. We have seen experienced kiters starting right in front of the house at Playa Bonita. For all the others, there are a couple of kite schools offering beginner courses and material rental.

Deep Sea Fishing (Sports Fishing)

We are regularly asked if there were deep sea fishing opportunities in Las Terrenas. Yes there are! Wheras we have nobody fishing in the family, hence no personal experience, we hear that Sport Fishing Charters Las Terrenas does a good job. You can get in touch visiting their website www.fishinglasterrenas.com.
