There are two shops that rent wave surfing and stand up paddling boards and equipment at Playa Bonita. Johannes, a German citizen, is the owner of Pirata Surf School. He is renting out equipment for wave surfing, stand up paddling, and also offers courses. Beginners would likely paddle or walk around the Punta Bonita to practice on often perfectly flat water, more experienced paddlers might prefer to practice right in front of Villa Estrella del Mar with “friendly waves”. Johannes speaks German, Spanish, and English and will happily help you to find the appropriate spot.
