Las Terrenas has many kite surfing spots. We have seen experienced kiters starting right in front of the house at Playa Bonita. For all the others, there are a couple of kite schools offering beginner courses and material rental. Punta Popy at the exit of Las Terrenas in direction of El Limon and Playa Portillo (picture above) a couple of minutes further out are popular spots. The dominating trade winds make it likely you won’t sit on the beach. Four members of our family (age 11 to 48) practice this action sport. It is not that difficult, give it a try.
Vincent from Kite World, an iko certified school, is a reliable guy. If you are a licensed kiter, you can rent the equipment or otherwise book a course. Kite World also rents out Stand Up Paddle board for windless days.
